Niya Watkins

Niya Watkins is an accomplished Senior Product Designer at The Atlantic, with a solid background in UX/UI design and research. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior UX Designer at National Geographic, where Niya was the sole designer for digital platforms aiding over 6,000 National Geographic Explorers. Contributions encompass designing administrator settings for user-generated content and leading a redesign of the Field Notes storytelling platform, along with longitudinal usability testing. Earlier roles include operations work at the U.S. Department of State, where Niya engaged in the Dependent Employment Authorization program and supported compliance reviews, and internships at various organizations including the Peace Corps and the Democratic National Committee. Niya holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University and is pursuing a Master of Science in Integrated Design & Media at NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
