Brenda Wintrode is a local government reporter at The Baltimore Banner, covering state agencies since May 2022. Prior experience includes reporting for the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism from July 2021 to May 2022, and freelancing for various publications such as The New York Times and Maryland Matters from March 2016 to October 2021, where data analysis and news reporting were key responsibilities. Brenda has also worked as a reporter for Capital News Service and served as an investigative reporter at the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at the University of Maryland, where national stories on significant topics like the CARES Act eviction moratorium were crafted. Additional roles include legislative advocacy for the Maryland NAACP, cemetery management in Pacific Grove, and international channel management at MathWorks.
