Sam Mercer

Sam Mercer is an experienced professional currently serving as the Head of Equality & Diversity at the General Council of the Bar since June 2013. Prior to this role, Sam worked as a Freelance Corporate Responsibility Consultant for blue-chip companies and government entities from 2010 to 2013, notably developing BT's "Hiring Heroes" initiative and engaging various sectors in employing older workers through a Department for Work and Pensions program. Sam's career also includes roles such as Workplace Director at Business in the Community, where oversight of a £1 million budget was managed, and Chief Executive at the Employers Forum on Age, where membership and turnover significantly increased. Earlier experience includes positions at Networking for Industry, Astra Intertrade, and Texuna International Ltd, along with a voluntary teaching role in Kenya. Educational achievements include a Master's degree in Corporate Social Responsibility, an Advanced Certificate in Marketing, and a BA Hons in Geography.
