James Claiborne currently serves as Deputy Director for Community Engagement at Barnes Foundation since January 2024. Previous roles include Senior Vice President of Exhibitions and Programs at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and Curator of Public Programs at Barnes Foundation. Claiborne has held significant positions at the African American Museum in Philadelphia, overseeing programming and public engagement initiatives. Experience also includes teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Drexel University, managing the Philly 360 marketing campaign for Visit Philadelphia, and directing community engagement efforts at Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. Education includes a Bachelor of Arts in African and African American Studies with a Minor in English from The University of Memphis.
