Arend Thorp is an experienced educator currently serving as a Science and Technology Teacher at The Beacon School since September 2005, where responsibilities include curriculum creation and instruction in subjects such as Biology, Biochemistry, Data Analysis and Visualization, 3D Computer Animation, Programming, Anthropology, Interactive Technology, and Chemistry of Cooking. Arend established the school's Technology and Computer Science education program and manages up to 150 students with diverse skill levels each term. Previous teaching experience includes a position at Brooklyn Technical High School as a Biology and AP Biology teacher from September 2004 to June 2005. Arend holds a Certificate in GIS from Penn State World Campus, is pursuing a Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree from Udacity, and has a Master's degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from The City College of New York, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Physical and Biological Anthropology from the University at Albany.
