Rick Avery

Rick Avery has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Rick has held various roles in different companies, showcasing their expertise in technology and leadership.

Avery's most recent position was as the Chief Technology Officer at The Benefit Company, Inc. / Benefitfirst. In this role, they were responsible for establishing the company's technical vision and leading all aspects of its technological development. Rick also directed the company's strategic IT direction and provided leadership to department heads.

Before this, Avery held the position of IT Manager at the same company, where they fulfilled multiple roles including software developer, systems and database administrator, architect, and manager. Rick led and mentored staff, provided direction, and managed project workloads and daily responsibilities.

Prior to their tenure at The Benefit Company, Avery founded their own company called Avery Information Systems, LLC. As the CEO and Solutions Architect, they created custom developed solutions and alternatives to expensive commercial packages for small businesses.

Avery also worked as a Consultant at TM Floyd & Company, where they were part of a team that developed and implemented a secure file transfer application for clients. Rick used various development tools and technologies for this project.

Additionally, Avery served as a Systems Consultant at Westinghouse Electric Company, where they managed and enhanced the company's i2 Factory Planner integration with the existing SAP R/3 implementation. Rick also developed a web application to track and trend Human Performance Events.

Throughout their career, Avery has held various other roles in different companies, including Software Architect at AssociationSuccess, Inc, Systems Consultant at Richland School District 2, Information Systems Analyst at BC Components, Inc and AstenJohnson, Programmer/Analyst II at PMSC, and Telecommunications Operator in the US Army.

Rick Avery attended Midlands Technical College from 1996 to 1998, where they earned an Associate of Computer Technology degree with a focus on Telecommunications Management. Rick then went on to attend Limestone University from 1997 to 2000. At Limestone University, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
