Kaz Azim

Computational Biologist at The Bioinformatics CRO

Kaz Azim is an accomplished bioinformatician with extensive experience in neurodegenerative disease research and therapeutic development. Currently serving as Lead Bioinformatician at GliaGenesis Ltd since July 2020, Kaz has established an in silico drug discovery platform to facilitate therapy identification. Simultaneously, Kaz functions as a Computational Biologist at The Bioinformatics CRO + Independent Data Lab, focusing on analysis of disease-derived datasets using advanced technologies like single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq. Additionally, Kaz holds the position of Principal Investigator/Senior Bioinformatician at the German Research Foundation, where long-term funding has been secured for research on brain rejuvenation therapies. A background in pharmacogenomics and systems biology was further developed through roles such as Senior Research Associate at the University of Düsseldorf and Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Kaz's academic foundation includes a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Portsmouth and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Zurich/ETH.
