Derek Gaunt

Derek Gaunt is an expert trainer and coach at The Black Swan Group. Derek has over 25 years of law enforcement experience, 18 of which were spent as a member of the Hostage Negotiations Team for the Alexandria Police Department in Alexandria, Virginia. Derek is a certified instructor with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and has also taught at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy. In addition to their law enforcement experience, Derek has also been a case presenter for the Crisis Negotiations Unit at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Quantico and has served as an instructor and regional training coordinator for the Washington Area Council of Governments. Derek is also the founder of the Metropolitan Area Crisis Negotiators Association.

Derek Gaunt has an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from On The Job. Derek also has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Columbia Southern University. Derek is certified as an instructor by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
