Barry Aherne

Barry Aherne has a diverse work experience in the sports industry. Barry is currently working as the Head of Events & Membership at The British & Irish Lions since May 2022. Prior to this, they founded and served as the Event Director for Foxes and Bears Limited since August 2020. Barry also worked at Two Circles as the Creative Strategy and Comms Lead for FIFA+ from August 2021 to May 2022. Barry has also worked with The British & Irish Lions as an Event Director from September 2020 to August 2021. Before that, they were a Project Manager at Bath Rugby from November 2019 to August 2020. Earlier in their career, Barry worked as a Senior Director of Marketing at IMG from September 2017 to September 2019. Barry also held various roles at Rugby Football Union, including Event Marketing Manager and Group Sales Manager from 2004 to 2017. Their first job in the industry was as a Sales Executive at Game Face, Inc. from December 2001 to May 2004.

Barry Aherne graduated from the University of Leeds in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Politics. Prior to attending university, they went to Bishop Stopford School.
