Guillermo Hernandez

Chief Engineer at The Broad

Guillermo Hernandez has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Guillermo started their career at Cox Communications as a Digital Cable Tech in 1999 and then moved on to Rocker Industries as a Maintenance Tech, where they gained knowledge in electric mechanical and hydraulic components. In 2004, they joined the Skirball Cultural Center as a Facilities Supervisor and worked there until 2015. In the same year, Guillermo joined The California Endowment as a Facilities Engineer, responsible for maintaining the mechanical and electrical systems of the Endowment Headquarters Building and the Center for Healthy Communities. Currently, they work at The Broad as the Chief Engineer, a position they have held since 2021.

Guillermo Hernandez's education history begins in 1986 when they attended Universidad Nacional de El Salvador. Guillermo studied economics at the university for three years, completing their education in 1989. After a long gap in education, Guillermo enrolled in TheBOC in 2012 and completed the Building Operator Certification Level I & II program in 2013. Following that, they attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College from 2013 to 2015, pursuing a degree in HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering Technology/Technician).

The Broad

The Broad is a contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The Broad is home to nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art, and welcomes more than 800,000 visitors a year. The 120,000-square-foot building features two floors of gallery space and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has been loaning collection works to museums around the world since 1984.
