Ilona Coleman

Ilona Coleman is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as the Legal Director of the Criminal Defense Practice at The Bronx Defenders, a position held since September 2011. In this role, Ilona oversees all criminal defense litigation, manages complex legal issues, and supervises attorneys in legal writing and research, while ensuring the office remains current on legal developments. Prior to this, Ilona worked as an Associate at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP from 2005 to 2011, representing clients in diverse criminal, regulatory, and civil matters, and served as a White Collar Criminal Defense Attorney at Blank Rome LLP from 2002 to 2005, focusing on securities fraud charges and civil litigation. Ilona holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude from American University Washington College of Law, and a Bachelor's degree in American Government and Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
