Octavia Ashley Ewart

Law Graduate, Criminal Defense Practice at The Bronx Defenders

Octavia Ewart (she/her/hers) received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where she was an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellow, Brooklyn Law Students for Public Interest Fellow, and a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. During law school, she served as a research assistant with a focus on researching the carceral system and efforts to defund jails and reinvest in community-based services. She also volunteered with the Parole Preparation Project, where she provided direct assistance to people who are currently incarcerated as they prepare for their interviews with the Board of Parole, and worked with Brooklyn Law School’s Criminal Defense & Advocacy Clinic to provide resentencing advocacy to domestic violence survivors in state prison. During her Summers, she interned with the Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Practice and Brooklyn Defender Services' Criminal Defense Practice. Octavia holds a Bachelor of Arts from Skidmore College, where she studied Philosophy, Film & Media and Intergroup Relations. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Octavia is a first generation Jamaican American.
