Law Graduate, Criminal Defense Practice at The Bronx Defenders

Shanisha Forbes (she/her/hers) received her J.D. and MSW from The University of Maryland. Prior to law school, she was a mediation intern at the New York State Attorney General’s Harlem Regional Office, where she resolved a broad array of consumer complaint issues including retail sales and landlord tenant issues. While in law school, Shanisha worked in the Youth, Education and Justice Clinic representing children in Maryland who had been excluded from school through suspension, expulsion, and other forms of school pushout, and adults who were serving life sentences for crimes they committed when they were children and young adults. During her 1L summer, she interned at the Community Service Society of New York and educated formerly incarcerated individuals of their rights, advocated on their behalf in employment discrimination matters, and sealed eligible criminal records. She spent her 2L summer interning at the Dekalb County Public Defender’s office as a Gideon Promise Law Clerk.
