Lin McGarry

Lin McGarry has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Lin started their career at Lloyds TSB, where they served as a Senior HR Manager, handling operational HR and later establishing a Learning and Development division. Lin then moved on to HSBC, where they worked as a Senior HR Manager, leading a team and implementing a change program.

Lin McGarry later transitioned into the education sector, working as a Class Teacher at St James's RC Primary School. Afterward, they joined the Civil Service, specifically the Home Office's National Fraud Authority, where they served as the Head of Human Resources. In this role, they established the NFA and supported the CEO in building a new Executive Agency. Lin later transitioned the Agency into the Home Office and then the National Crime Agency, overseeing strategic and operational HR and Learning and Development delivery.

Following their experience in the Civil Service, Lin McGarry joined the Department for International Development as a Senior Human Resources Manager, focusing on HR organizational projects and consultancy. Their contributions included change management, business improvement, and organization design projects.

Lin McGarry continued their career in the nonprofit sector, working for organizations such as Cruse Bereavement Care and Malaria Consortium. At Cruse Bereavement Care, they held the role of National Human Resources Manager, while at Malaria Consortium, they served as a Senior Development and Performance Specialist.

Their most recent role is with the Brooke, Action for Working Horses and Donkeys, where they serve as the Global Head of People & Culture. In this position, they support the CEO and senior leadership team in delivering the global People Strategy, leading the People & Culture team across various regions.

Lin McGarry obtained a BA Hons degree in French and Spanish from the University of Birmingham in the years 1981 to 1985. In 1988, they pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management at Kingston University Business School. Lin then earned a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Richmond Adult Community College from 2012 to 2015. Additionally, Lin studied Primary Education at St Mary's University, Twickenham, completing a PGCE in 2003 to 2004. In 1983 to 1984, they attended the University of Lyon 2 France, where they achieved a 2:2 degree in DEUG.
