Throughout Daphnée Saget Woodley’s career, she has made serving and representing nonprofit organizations a priority. As a lawyer, social worker, educator, and board director, Daphnée has decades of training in working with tax exempt organizations in various capacities. She believes in causes that promote social and economic equity and has extensive experience as an advisor.
Daphnée started her career as an attorney at an international law firm based in New York advising clients in media and other commercial industries as outside counsel. In this role, she gained substantial experience helping marginalized groups through her work on pro bono matters. While there, she also lead the practice of lawyers visiting prisons to help incarcerated mothers with custody issues and helping undocumented youth with immigration petitions.
Prior to joining Build Up, Daphnée served as General Counsel, Vice President and Assistant Secretary for Jazz at Lincoln Center, Inc. where she managed a range of nonprofit legal issues related to institutional planning, governance, employment, intellectual property and litigation.
Daphneé earned her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, her master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, and her bachelor’s degree from Brown University. She is a Certified Mediator, and member of the New York State Bar, admitted to practice law in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
