The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth

We are building the next generation of Canadians. Each year our charity empowers over 10,000 immigrant, refugee and newcomer youth and families to fulfill their potential in Canadian society. For the past 30 years, we've helped thousands overcome emotional, cultural and socio-economic barriers that prevent them from becoming contributing members of Calgary and Canada. Through in-school and after-school programs, workshops, field trips and hands-on learning activities, we support kids who have a tough time integrating into their school and community. Youth who are new to Canada and can experience loneliness, exclusion, racism, bullying, a confused self-identity, low self-esteem, etc. We educate them about various topics: Canadian culture, adaptability, anti-bullying, self-empowerment, healthy friendships and community engagement. We also offer academic support so they can enter the workforce with skill and smarts. In addition to youth, Calgary’s economy continues to be shaped by immigrant adults and families who are eager to give back to our society. Sadly, initial settlement challenges prevent them from finding work, supporting their children and realizing their potential. We provide one-on-one guidance and resources about settlement; most importantly – we familiarize them with Canadian culture so they can find a sense of belonging.
