Steven Philpott Jr.

Steven Philpott Jr. has a diverse work experience in various fields. Steven currently works as a Scientific Advisory Reviewer at The Cannigma since December 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Outreach Chair at NALA- National Association of LSAMP Alumni from November 2021 to June 2022. Steven also co-founded and served as the Chief Visionary Officer of the Illinois Minority Growers Association from December 2020 to June 2022. In the field of strength and conditioning, Steven worked as a Strength And Conditioning Coach at Chicago State University from April 2021 to September 2021, and at the University of Illinois Chicago from August 2020 to March 2021. Steven also held various coaching roles at McKendree University (December 2017 to May 2018) and Parisi Speed School (May 2017 to December 2017). Additionally, they worked as a Dispensary Inventory Supervisor at PharmaCann Inc in 2021, overseeing the back of the house operation. Prior to that, they served as an Account Manager/Sports Scientist at STATSports from May 2018 to November 2020, where they focused on client management and business development. Steven also gained experience as a Football Sports Performance Intern at Northwestern University from May 2016 to January 2017.

From 2013 to 2014, they attended Prairie State College and obtained an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Fitness and Exercise.

In 2014, they joined the University of Illinois Chicago and pursued a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. Steven completed their studies in 2016, with a minor in Nutrition.

In 2017, Steven obtained the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

In 2018, they earned the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer certification from the American College of Sports Medicine.

Most recently, from 2020 to 2022, they attended Chicago State University, where they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, with a focus on Environmental Sciences.

In terms of additional certifications, Steven obtained the CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association in November 2020. Steven also acquired the Certified Cannabis Consultant and Professional Interpener certifications from the Trichome Institute, both in August 2020.
