Japheth Mursi

Japheth Mursi, PhD, serves as a Lecturer in Data Science at United States International University - Africa, where courses in data science and machine learning are designed to provide students with essential skills. As Co-Founder of IwazoLab, a Nairobi-based data science consulting firm, Japheth leads initiatives aimed at financial inclusion through advanced data analytics and machine learning solutions. In addition to roles at IwazoLab and United States International University - Africa, Japheth contributes as an Advisory Council Member at KAG EAST UNIVERSITY and as a Data Instructor for The Carpentries. The professional journey includes experience as a Data Analyst at SIME LAB, a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and earlier roles in auditing and IT support. Japheth holds a PhD in Machine Learning and a Master's degree in Information Technology, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and a CPA finalist designation.
