The Carrying On Project (TCOP)
The Carrying On Project is 501c3 that focuses on providing free quality baby carriers to low income military families who would not otherwise be able to afford them. Since 2013 TCOP has matched over 12,000 families with carriers (as of 7/1/2018)to help make caregivers lives a little bit easier during times of separation and transition and also facilitate bonding between the service member and their children, which is often interrupted and even stunted by regular military life. In 2015 TCOP started their playdate initiative, which currently has 120 volunteers in 70 locations participating in local outreach events and hosting playdates near military installations or cities and towns with high military populations, whether it be active duty, reservist, or veteran. These playdates are to help foster community and connection to other families in a transient lifestyle where consistency and support can be scarce. TCOP is staffed entirely of volunteers, including veterans, spouses, supporters and even service members, both active and reservist, who feel strongly about helping families connect, both with their children and with each other.
