Kari MacKey

Kari Mackey is an experienced professional in rule of law and mental health programs, currently serving as the Associate Director at The Carter Center since October 2019. In this role, Kari co-developed and manages the Policing Alternatives Initiative and oversees multiple projects in West Africa aimed at enhancing gender equity and accountability in law enforcement. With a history at The Carter Center dating back to 2007, Kari has held positions such as Senior Program Associate, where oversight of access to information projects in Liberia and development of educational curricula were key responsibilities. Kari's earlier career involved construction project coordination, which provided foundational skills in logistics and administration. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus on International Relations, both from Georgia State University.
