Yulia Potulova

Teaching Artist/choral Instructor at The Center for Arts Education

Yulia Potulova is a seasoned music educator and director with extensive experience in choral direction, vocal coaching, and music instruction. Since November 2016, Yulia has served as Choral Director at PS 278 School, focusing on music acquisition and arrangement for students aged 9-13. In addition, Yulia has been the Music Minister at North Yonkers Community Church since January 2008, where responsibilities include organ and piano performance, choir conducting, and service planning. Yulia also directs the Jubilee Youth Chorale, selecting repertoire and teaching vocal techniques to choristers aged 7-15, while serving as a vocal coach and accompanist at Barnard College. As a Teaching Artist at The Center for Arts Education, Yulia engages elementary students in choral music using inquiry-based learning. Furthermore, Yulia has directed musicals for the Jubilee Summer Program and teaches private piano lessons at Jubilee Christian Center. Yulia holds a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

The Center for Arts Education

The Center for Arts Education (CAE) is dedicated to ensuring that New York City public school students have quality arts learning as an essential part of their K-12 education. Today, CAE is the only organization in New York working through direct service programs in schools; professional development for school leaders, classroom teachers and teaching artists; and active advocacy and public engagement to inform and influence educational and fiscal policies in support of a well-rounded education for all children that includes the arts. CAE works to: -Raise awareness of the value of arts learning for every child and increase public consciousness about the need for dedicated arts curricula in all schools; -Provide in-school programs in dance, music, theatre and visual-media arts; - Provide professional development to ensure quality school based arts learning; Supply tools and support for educators, parents, elected officials, and others to advocate for equitable education that includes the arts; -Influence educational and fiscal policies that will support arts education in all of the city's public schools.
