Katharine Goforth

Katharine Goforth serves as the Interim Director of History Curriculum and Instruction at Brooklyn Ascend High School since August 2022, overseeing the development and evaluation of the school's History curriculum. As the Assistant Principal since July 2022, Katharine has been instrumental in lowering the number of freshmen at risk of promotion by over 50%. Previously, as the Dean of Instruction at Brooklyn Ascend High School from June 2019 to June 2022, Katharine designed a vertically aligned Social Studies curriculum for grades 9-12 and managed a portfolio of teachers through observations and feedback. Katharine's career includes roles as Dean of Instruction at KIPP Believe College Prep, Team Leader and Social Studies Department Chair at New Orleans College Prep, and various teaching positions. In addition to education roles, Katharine had experience as a Campaign Director with Grassroots Campaigns, training field organizers for several prominent organizations. Katharine holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Loyola University New Orleans.
