Markos Xenakis

Markos Xenakis, PhD, is a Bioinformatics Engineer II at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, specializing in AI-assisted approaches to the study of HLA protein molecules and the spatial organization of the MHC genomic region. Previously, Markos served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen, focusing on machine-learning-assisted mathematical modeling of voltage-gated sodium channels in pain diseases. Markos has also held positions as a Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist at VTT, where mathematical modeling of infection dynamics and complex biological systems was emphasized. Earlier experience includes serving as a Scientific Advisor for the Dementia XR project at Fabric Behavior Design and conducting PhD research at Maastricht University on computational modeling pipelines for voltage-gated sodium channels. Markos’s academic background includes a Master of Science in Simulation Sciences from RWTH Aachen University and a Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace.
