Barbara Laughon is a seasoned professional in tuberculosis (TB) drug development with extensive experience spanning over three decades. Currently serving as Co-Chair of the Working Group on New Drugs at the STOP TB Partnership since January 2012 and Co-Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Lilly TB Drug Discovery Initiative since January 2008, Laughon also holds the position of Senior Scientist at the NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since December 2007. Previous roles include a founding stakeholder and former Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development, as well as Chief of the Complications and Co-infections Research Branch at NIH from 1989 to 2008. Laughon earned a PhD in Microbiology from Virginia Tech, and has contributed to various research areas including AIDS-associated infections during their tenure as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
