Song Chunshan is the current Dean of Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to this, they served as Editor in Chief for Advances in Catalysis at Elsevier from April 2016 to December 2020. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the journal's 70th anniversary edition and its scope of coverage across all aspects of catalysis research.
Before their time at Elsevier, Song Chunshan was an Advisor for Saudi Aramco Research and Development Center from January 2007 to December 2010. In this role, they provided advice and guidance on research projects related to fossil energy resources.
Song Chunshan has also been a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar and Visiting Professor at Imperial College London from September 2004 to May 2005. In this role, they conducted research and taught classes on fossil energy resources.
Finally, Song Chunshan has served as Director of DOE-NETL University Coalition for Fossil Energy Research at Penn State University since November 1989. In this role, they have been responsible for leading a team of researchers in studying fossil energy resources and their potential applications.
Song Chunshan received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Dalian University of Technology. Song then received a Diploma in Japanese from Northeast Normal University. Song followed this with an MS in Applied Chemistry from Osaka University. Finally, they received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Chemistry from Osaka University.
