David Jesse

David Jesse is a seasoned journalist and educator with extensive experience in higher education reporting. Currently serving as a Senior Writer for The Chronicle of Higher Education since March 2023, David also holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Taylor University since February 2022. Prior to these roles, David worked as a higher education reporter for the Detroit Free Press from February 2011 to March 2023. David has been awarded several prestigious fellowships, including the Spencer Fellowship in Education Reporting at Columbia University and multiple fellowships with the Education Writers Association, focusing on various aspects of education reporting. David’s early career included positions as a digital journalist and education reporter in Michigan, covering K-12 and community college issues. David holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from Cornerstone University.
