Rodney Mahone has a strong background in sales, marketing, and leadership roles in the media and philanthropy sectors. Rodney is currently serving as the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at The Chronicle of Philanthropy since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at The Pivot Fund as the Managing Director from 2021 to 2023, where they led the strategy and execution of fund investments in independent news organizations serving BIPOC communities.
Before joining The Pivot Fund, Mahone had an extensive tenure at McClatchy. From 2020 to 2021, they held the position of VP of In-Market Sales for McClatchy and Georgia Market President, overseeing local ad revenue and a team of sales leaders and account executives across multiple markets. Prior to this, they served as President and Publisher at McClatchy from 2018 to 2020 and from 2010 to 2017. Rodney also held the role of Regional President and Publisher from 2017 to 2018, where they led the strategic vision for Georgia's digital and print media enterprise.
In addition, Mahone has experience as the Vice President of Advertising at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer from 2008 to 2010, where they were responsible for sales and marketing vision and managing a team. Overall, Mahone's work experience demonstrates their expertise in revenue generation, leadership, and strategic planning in media and philanthropy organizations.
Rodney Mahone studied at Georgia Southwestern State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Marketing. In 2021, they obtained a certification in Mentoring Others from LinkedIn.
