Valerie Tan Yi Jie

Valerie Tan Yi Jie serves as the Bluesmith 3D Printing Service Student Manager at Duke University, where responsibilities include managing daily operations and providing customer support to researchers and medical professionals. As a student researcher in the Segura Lab, Valerie developed microporous annealed particles for brain tissue regeneration, significantly improving experimental efficiency. Participation in the Huang Fellows Program emphasized the integration of ethics and social implications in scientific research. Additional roles include managing editor at Duke Chronicle, translator at Woori Center, ESL teacher for Korean immigrants, and various internships focusing on biomedical engineering and public service projects. Valerie is pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical/Medical Engineering and a minor in Korean Studies at Duke University.
