Ashley Smith Bonner

Ashley Smith Bonner currently serves as the Stakeholder Engagement & Media Director at The College Board since April 2024. Prior experience includes roles as a Higher Education Reporter at EdSource, focusing on K-12 and higher education issues in California (July 2019 - April 2024), and a Higher Education Media Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, where the specialization was in career and technical education (January 2020 - December 2020). Previous positions include Reporter at Inside Higher Ed covering community colleges and non-traditional students (March 2015 - June 2019), Staff Reporter at The News-Press (January 2012 - February 2015), and Reporter at the Marshfield News-Herald (February 2009 - January 2012). Early career experiences also encompass internships at The Flint Journal, USA TODAY, The State News, and the Detroit Free Press. Ashley holds a Master’s degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California (2022-2023) and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Michigan State University (2004-2008).
