Shannon Mullane is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in media and communication. Currently serving as a water reporter for The Colorado Sun, Shannon focuses on water issues within the Colorado River Basin and local tribal affairs. Previously, Shannon held roles as a Senior Communication Editor at the University of Colorado Boulder, where online articles and magazines were produced, and as a freelance journalist covering health, environment, and policy issues in the Four Corners region. Other key positions include Senior Editor and Co-founder of Mindful Observer, Staff Writer at Durango Herald, and various roles during academic tenure, including Lead Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant. Shannon's educational background includes a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor's degree in International/Global Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
