THE COMMUNITY HOSPICE INC
Stephen Manny has been a Trustee at THE COMMUNITY HOSPICE INC since June 2001. Prior to that, they were the Metro Director of the American Diabetes Association from February 1999 to June 2001.
Under Stephen’s leadership, the ADA’s presence in the eight largest markets in the U.S. increased dramatically, with revenue increasing from $367,000 in 1998 to $827,000 in 1999 – an increase of 125%. This performance was based on corporate engagement and improved targeting and execution related to relationships and general fundraising operations.
In 2000, Stephen generated audited revenue of $1,200,000 – an increase of 45% over the previous year. This was led by increases in special gifts, corporate support, performance in special events and volunteer giving. In addition, they established the first American Diabetes Association black tie gala event in Boston, which raised $325,000 in net revenue in 2000. The event was co-chaired by Peter D’Angelo, Chief Financial Officer for Raytheon, and Dr. Ronald Arky, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. It was advised by Dr. Kenneth Quickel, President of The Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.
In 1999, Stephen produced the fourth largest “America’s Walk for Diabetes” in the United States, raising $208,000 (net). The event was attended by Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999.
