Neil MacDonald OBE has a robust background in governance and leadership through various trustee and chair positions across several organizations. Currently serving as Chair at Sheffield Museums and SHEFFIELD SCIENCE PARK COMPANY LIMITED, Neil also holds trustee roles at United Learning, UK Community Foundations, Sheffield Theatres, and Freshgate Foundation. Previously, Neil acted as Chair for St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice and Chair of Governors for Sheffield Springs Academy. Neil possesses significant experience in the public and private sectors, highlighted by participation as a LEP Private Sector Board Member for the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. Academically, Neil earned a 2.1 degree in Economics and Accounting from The University of Sheffield.

The Cutlers’ Company was established by a parliamentary Act of Incorporation in 1624 and for almost four hundred years has sought to maintain the standards and quality of Sheffield manufactured cutlery and steel products and to promote the name of Sheffield. As manufacturing in the region has changed over the centuries, so the Company reflects this by highlighting the innovation in the region as well as upholding Sheffield’s proud heritage
