The Crucible
David Weisbach is an experienced mechanical engineer and founder of We Build Machines, specializing in industrial automation and bio-tech machinery design since June 2018. Wiesbach has also served as a welding and machining instructor at The Crucible since January 2017, teaching various welding courses. Prior roles include senior automation engineer at Production Robotics Inc., where David led projects for an automotive manufacturer, and test equipment engineer at Wrightspeed, designing custom test equipment for electric vehicle components. David has held engineering positions at Berkeley Lights, SpaceX, and Tesla, focusing on automation, quality engineering, and equipment design. Education includes a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge, where David was actively involved in the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The Crucible is a nonprofit educational facility that fosters a collaboration of Arts, Industry and Community. Through training in the fine and industrial arts, The Crucible promotes creative expression, reuse of materials, and innovative design while serving as an accessible arts venue for the general public.
