Kaavya Butaney

Kaavya Butaney is an accomplished journalism and biological sciences student currently serving as Editor-in-Chief and Print Managing Editor at nuAZN since January 2024, and as an Undergraduate Researcher at Blythe Lab. Kaavya has actively contributed to The Daily Northwestern as a Reporter, Diversity & Inclusion Chair, and Assistant Campus Editor since September 2022. Previous experience includes a Technical Writing Internship at Cisco, a Worldwide Section Editor role at nuAZN, and leadership positions in MVLA Speech & Debate and The Talon, where various editorial and reporting responsibilities were held. Kaavya is a graduate of Los Altos High School and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at Northwestern University.

The Daily received the top award from the Illinois College Press Association in February 2012 and February 2014. It has also won the Pacemaker, long regarded as the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism, seven times inthe past decade — most recently in 2011-12.The Daily publishes five days a week, Monday through Friday, during regular academic weeks.
