Prior to this, Lois worked at The New York Times from 1989 to 1991 as a copy editor focused on sports and the national edition. From 1978 to 1989, contributions were made as an assistant editor at The Washington Post, overseeing business and financial news across various editions. Lois began a career in journalism as a copy editor at The Dallas Times Herald from 1976 to 1978. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix (1992-1994) and a degree from Texas Christian University (1969-1973), alongside studies completed at R.L. Turner High School (1965-1969).
