Tanis Bean

Owner & Director at The Dance Academy

Tanis Bean has been the Owner & Director of The Dance Academy, Ltd. in Elm Grove for 35 years. Miss Tanis holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and a Degree in Business Administration Management, receiving high honors for both. She is a member, past Treasurer and the current President of Dance Masters of Wisconsin. She is also a member, graduate and has master's certification from Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. She has Elementary Certification from the New York Institute of Labanotation and is also certified by Dr. Paul Ward and the Health and Tennis Corporation of America.

Her involvement through conventions and workshops have allowed her to study under such dance notables as prima ballerina - Kelsey Kirkland, Fred Kelly - teacher and brother of Gene Kelly and Gus Giordano - world renowned jazz artist as well as others who have pushed the dance movement forward. Through the years, Miss Tanis has taught dance for many organizations, has been a choreographer for competitions, musicals and show choirs, a pageant and competition judge and consultant.

In addition to regularly scheduled classes, the studio participates in workshops, competitions, pageants, community performances & events and High Interest Days. Staff and students of The Dance Academy, Ltd. have received many national and state honors. The Dance Academy, Ltd. has also had the honor to be the home of Miss Dance Masters of Wisconsin for the years of 1999, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2012.
