Dan Herms

Dan Herms serves as the Vice President and General Manager of The Davey Institute at The Davey Tree Expert Company since January 2018, overseeing the operations of the company's research, technical services, and training and education division. Prior to this role, Dan Herms held positions as the Vice President of Research and Development and Director of Technical Services, providing leadership for the research program and directing the Davey Institute's Diagnostic and Research Laboratories. Dan Herms' prior experience includes a tenure as a Professor at The Ohio State University from 1997 to 2017, where research focused on the ecology and management of insects, alongside teaching initiatives. Dan Herms also worked as a State Extension Specialist, developing outreach programs for pest management. Earlier in the career, Dan Herms was an Entomologist at The Dow Gardens, leading plant health care initiatives. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Entomology from Michigan State University, as well as dual Master’s degrees in Entomology and Horticulture and a Bachelor’s in Landscape Horticulture from The Ohio State University.
