Lead Faculty, Geopolitical Risk Governance Programme at The DCRO Institute

Derek Leatherdale is an experienced professional in geopolitical risk management, currently serving as a Senior Consultant at Sibylline Ltd since July 2024 and as Managing Director at GRI Strategies since January 2018. At GRI Strategies, Derek focuses on equipping clients with the tools necessary to navigate complex political challenges. Additionally, Derek holds positions as Visiting Scholar at The London Institute of Banking & Finance, Lead Faculty for the Geopolitical Risk Governance Programme at The DCRO Institute, and Associate Director at Risk Coalition, promoting effective management of geopolitical risk among governance boards. Previously, Derek held significant roles at HSBC, including Head of Strategy and Planning for Group Government Affairs and Global Head of Geopolitical Risk, and also worked for the British Government on national security issues. Derek holds an MA in International Politics from King's College London and a BA in Economics and History from Durham University.
