Mary Wood is an experienced leader in public health and policy, currently serving as the Interim Head of the Centre for Disease Control and First Assistant Secretary of Health System Strategy at the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care since April 2021. Previously, Mary held various leadership roles, including Head of Member Engagement and Corporate Citizenship at the Business Council of Australia and Deputy Director-General of Policy and Government Relations at ACT Health. With a background in strategic advisory roles, including Chief of Staff to The Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Mary possesses expertise in policy development, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. Educational qualifications include a BA and LLB with first-class honors from the Australian National University, a Diploma of Public Policy from the University of Canberra, and completion of courses in corporate governance at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
