Timnit Gebru is the Founder & Executive Director of The Distributed AI Research Institute. Previously, Timnit served as the Co-founder & President of Black in AI and the Co-lead of the Ethical AI Research Team at Google AI. With a background in Electrical Engineering, Timnit has worked on various projects at companies such as Apple and Microsoft Research NYC, focusing on audio engineering and research in the field of AI ethics. Gebru's academic journey includes obtaining a PhD, Masters, and Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where Timnit also served as a Graduate Research Assistant. Additionally, Timnit co-founded MotionThink and participated in open-source projects to enhance their programming skills.
