Ramona De Loera

Director at East Coast Migrant Head Start Project

Ramona De Loera is a proud Mexican American. She was born in Texas, while both of her parents were born in Guanajuato, Mexico. Ramona’s life changed for the better when she learned of East Coast Migrant Head Start Project’s center in Chandler Mountain, Alabama. There, Esmeralda would get a head start in life by becoming a dual language learner. Today, Esmeralda is a registered nurse in Florida.

For the past 22 years, Ramona has been part of the ECMHSP Familia. She’s been President of the Wauchula Head Start Center and the ECMSHP Policy Council President since October 2020. When the pandemic began, Ramona became vocal about the needs of our essential farmworker families, participating in more than 10 local and national interviews with Hispanics in Philanthropy, Altisimo Live, Justice for Migrant Women, and Politico.
