Mike Rieger, PLA, PMP has a diverse work experience that spans over 15 years. Mike is currently serving as the Deputy Director at The East Cut Community Benefit District, where they collaborate with the Executive Director on developing and implementing strategies to enhance services, programs, and projects. Mike oversees the services and programs, advocates for new innovations, and manages communications and programming to build community pride.

Prior to this role, Mike worked at the City and County of San Francisco for 7 years. Mike held multiple positions, including Project Manager and Acting Project Manager. In these roles, they were responsible for managing streetscape projects from concept through design and construction. Mike handled project budgets, coordinated multidisciplinary teams, worked with various stakeholders, and ensured project progress and cost controls. Mike also made successful presentations to clients and the community.

Before joining the City and County of San Francisco, Mike worked at Suzman Design Associates as a Design Associate. Mike'smain focus was on a 22-acre estate project in Alamo, CA, where they managed the project, consulted with clients, coordinated with consultants, and handled design development and construction documentation. Mike also contributed to two San Francisco public library renovations.

During that time, Mike also ran their own business as a self-employed AutoCAD Tutor. Mike provided lessons and tutorials on AutoCAD and other software applications like Google Sketch-Up, Adobe Photoshop, and InDesign to students interested in landscape architecture.

In the early years of their career, Mike interned at Carducci & Associates INC., where they gained experience in construction documentation, AutoCAD drafting, construction detail development, site visits, client meetings, and project presentations.

Overall, Mike Rieger brings extensive experience and expertise in project management, design development, communications, and community engagement to their current role as Deputy Director.

Mike Rieger, PLA, PMP obtained a Diploma from Topeka High School in 2001. Mike then went on to earn a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) degree with a focus on Horticulture from Kansas State University, graduating in 2006. In 2005, they also studied Horticulture at City College of San Francisco. Along with their education, Mike has obtained several certifications, including being a Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) from California Architects Board in 2009, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute in 2018. Additionally, they are a Bay-Friendly Qualified Professional certified by Bay-Friendly Coalition since 2013.
