Joey Mak

Joey Mak is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in economic development, innovation, and diversity in the venture capital sector. Currently serving as a member of The Economic Club of Chicago since March 2023, Joey has held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Chicago:Blend since March 2021, leading efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the startup community. Previous roles include Vice President of Programs at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and Director of Economic Development & Innovation at the University of Illinois System. Earlier career highlights feature key positions in the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Office of the Governor of the State of Illinois. Joey earned an MBA from Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a BS in Anthropology from Loyola University Chicago.
