Alice Su

Alice Su is a seasoned journalist currently serving as the Senior China Correspondent for The Economist since March 2022, where reporting focuses on China and Taiwan, US-China competition, and geopolitics, including a special report titled “Frontline Formosa.” Prior to this role, Alice was the Beijing Bureau Chief for the Los Angeles Times from December 2018 to February 2022, covering significant events such as human rights issues in China, the Hong Kong protests, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Experience as a freelance journalist includes reporting on critical issues in the Middle East and Asia, achieving recognition as a finalist for the 2016 Livingston Awards. Additional roles include stringer for The Associated Press and media officer for ARDD, where Alice developed digital content and journalism training programs. Academic credentials encompass degrees from Princeton University in Public and International Affairs and a Master’s in China Studies from Yenching Academy of Peking University, along with various language studies and programs across other prestigious institutions.
