Helen McEvoy BSc., HDip.Ed., MA (Ed) taught Biology and Chemistry to A level and GCSE Physics and Maths for several years before working in School Improvement in a Local Authority and then gaining 12 years of secondary school headship experience.
As a Headteacher she led school improvement in three secondary schools in challenging contexts, taking one from Ofsted ‘Serious Weaknesses’ to ‘Good’ in all categories, which she attributes to putting in the right systems, and moving her other schools up Ofsted categories before retiring from full-time headship.
Helen is a committed Christian and came to faith as a teenager, re-establishing that faith in her mid-20s. She has belonged to a Baptist church and two Assemblies of God churches, in different parts of the country where she has led the 20s Group and house groups. She is happily married with adult children (one of whom is a teacher) and one granddaughter.
