John Dowson

John Dowson was previously Senior Independent Director at UK Sport. He is also a former Chair of the UK Boccia Federation.

Before taking up his EIS appointment he served for six years on the board of UK Sport where he also chaired the group audit and risk committee. During his term at Boccia UK, he also chaired the multi-stakeholder local organising committee for the 2018 World Boccia Championships, which were held at the Liverpool ACC and involved 186 athletes from 33 countries.

Prior to his work in high performance sport, his career was in finance, corporate restructuring and infrastructure investment with Coopers & Lybrand, IBM and PwC. He has held UK, European and global leadership roles and worked in over 25 countries. His last role at PwC was as the firm’s UK industry leader for all of the private sector (excluding financial services) before his retirement from the firm in 2012.
