Janis Rusko

Janis Rusko is a seasoned professional in food safety risk assessment with extensive experience at the Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment “BIOR” since June 2015, where Janis serves as a Senior Expert and Researcher. The role involves project management, alignment of food safety initiatives with national and EU stakeholders, and fostering international collaborations. As the EFSA Focal Point representative, Janis facilitated scientific cooperation between Latvia and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Currently, Janis holds the position of Management Board alternate member at EFSA and previously contributed to significant research projects, including the development of analytical methods for identifying contaminants in food and water. Janis holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc in Analytical Chemistry from Latvijas Universitate, showcasing a strong academic foundation in the field.
