Matthew Chapman

Matthew Chapman is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in investigative reporting. Currently serving as a Senior Reporter at The Examination since September 2023, Matthew uncovered significant campaigns by British American Tobacco to dilute health warnings on nicotine products in Kenya and exposed lobbying efforts against the UK's smoking ban. Previously, as Lead Reporter at The Bureau of Investigative Journalism from January 2020 to September 2023, Matthew reported on human rights abuses at Del Monte's Kenyan pineapple farm. Matthew's freelance work from November 2015 to January 2020 included contributions to major national publications and the development of investigative stories for Channel 4’s Supershoppers program. Earlier roles include Senior Reporter at EMAP and Reporter at Haymarket Media Group. Matthew holds a 2.1 degree in Ancient History from the University of St Andrews.
