Christopher D. Armstrong

Christopher D. Armstrong is executive vice president and head of the Operations and Resiliency Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is also on the Bank’s Executive Committee.

In his current role, Mr. Armstrong oversees the Cash and Custody Function, which includes the Second District’s Cash Operations and Global Currency Services; New York’s Law Enforcement Unit; the Business Continuity and Resiliency Team; and the Group’s Business Services team.

Mr. Armstrong has held various management positions within financial services and operations since joining the Bank in 2009. Prior to his current position, Mr. Armstrong served as the head of the Wholesale Product Office, which is responsible for managing the Fedwire Funds, Fedwire Securities and the National Settlement Services on behalf of the Federal Reserve System. Before that, he was the Head of the Cash and Custody Function and held leadership positions in the Paying & Receiving, Technical Services and Currency Verification functions of the Cash & Custody business.

Before joining the Bank, Mr. Armstrong worked at the Raytheon Company in Portsmouth Rhode Island as the operations lead for the Hardware Integration business unit. In that role, he was responsible for managing a cross functional group that assembled, tested and integrated naval electronic systems. Mr. Armstrong was also the operations lean lead for the Portsmouth center and helped the organization win two NE Shingo Prizes. Before working at Raytheon, Mr. Armstrong was employed at Toray Plastics America holding various engineering & operations lead positions.

Mr. Armstrong received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and his master’s degree in business administration from Bryant University.
