Laura Phillips possesses extensive experience in audit firm supervision and forensic consulting. Currently serving as Project Manager and Project Leader for Audit Firm Supervision at the Financial Reporting Council since January 2022, Laura has previously held significant roles including Director and Senior Consultant at FTI Consulting and Senior and Associate positions at EY within Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services. Laura's academic foundation includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics and an MMath from The University of Manchester, alongside an ACA qualification in Accounting from ICAEW. Additionally, Laura contributed to academia as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Academic Tutor for The Manchester Access Programme, focusing on widening participation in higher education.

Financial Reporting Council
The FRC is the UK's independent regulator serving the public interest by setting high standards of corporate governance, reporting and audit and by holding to account those responsible for delivering them. We set the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work. We represent UK interests in international standard-setting. We also monitor and take action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and auditing. We operate independent disciplinary arrangements for accountants and actuaries; and oversee the regulatory activities of the accountancy and actuarial professional bodies.
